  1. Good point about working from the only copy you have — I’ve been handed exactly this kind of old compressed band shot where the only fix is to lift detail without trashing the original file. Keeping a non-destructive copy around has saved me more than once when a client wants the same hero image reused at a different size later.

    For the band site angle, I often end up doing the opposite pass as well: pulling the members off a cluttered background so the logo and text can sit clean over the image. I use a free background remover for that step on quick mockups, and it’s usually the fastest way to see whether a new layout will actually work before anyone commits to a shoot.
